"Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or an animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way." |
Most of our dogs come from our local shelters,
however occasionally there are dogs who steal our heart from afar.
Who We Are
We are volunteers who are dedicated to helping save the lives of shelter dogs. We are not a shelter. Rather, we are a network of foster homes. We're an all volunteer, not-for-profit organization. We dedicate our time, love, home, and money to a foster dog until until their furever home is found. We strive to place our dogs in permanent homes where we believe it is the best possible match for our dogs and for the adopter.
We do NOT operate on a first come, first served basis. We reserve the right to deny any applicant, for any reason.
Most of our dogs come from shelters and pounds (there IS a difference). On occasion, we can accept owner surrendered pets, if we have the available space. If you must give up your pet, please contact us. If we can't help you, we can help locate a reputable rescue who can. We are a Lhasa Apso, Shih Tzu and Cocker Spaniel rescue. Some of our dogs are purebred, some are mixes. They are ALL special to us, and they are all EQUAL.
We are in need of volunteer foster homes!
Foster homes are critical to our organization. Without them, we cannot operate - and that means dogs die. Please contact us if you would like to learn more, or fill out our foster home application.
Please let us know if you are interested in opening up your heart and home to one of our wonderful dogs, whether it be to foster or to adopt. We will require an adoption application, references, and a home visit. We require a mimimun adoption donation to help offset our expenses, it is the only way we can continue to help more dogs.
All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, and are up to date on vaccines. Dogs one year or older are heartworm tested. We address all medical issues before placing our dogs for adoption, including dentals (if needed). We employ positive behavior modification techniques when necessary, before placement. We do not adopt out aggressive dogs.
We are advocates for the spaying and neutering of ALL pets.
We do not believe in extreme temperament testing.
We do not ship dogs. Therefore, we do require that our adopters reside in Maryland, or in one of our neighboring states. We will require you to come here to pick up your new family member.
We are always here to support you and offer advice even after the adoption is complete. However, it is very important to research the breed of the dog you want - before you adopt. Just because a dog looks cute and cuddly does not mean it is the right breed for your family and lifestyle. We do not adopt Lhasa Apsos to families with children under the age of twelve.
If you would like more information about our rescue or have any questions about our dogs, please let us know. We will be happy to talk with you. (Email is always more efficient for us.)
We do not receive any outside funding. In fact, our entire rescue is funded by one person, our Founder. So we are always in need of, and greatly appreciate, donations of any kind.
Our adoption process
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, we will require an adoption application, references, and a home visit. We also require an adoption donation to help offset some of our expenses. It is the only way we can continue to help more dogs.
Paid Employees or Volunteers?
We are a small network of volunteer foster homes. Our volunteers do this out of their love for animals. None of us are paid, however the rewards in our hearts are plenty. We do not have a physical shelter for you to visit. However we would be happy to set up an appointment for you to meet one of our dogs, after you have submitted your adoption application and after we complete your home visit.
Won't you please help us to help the dogs?
