Lacey and Hope

This page is dedicated to two very special, very brave, little girls named Lacey and Hope. Both of these sweet girls were pulled from the Memphis, TN animal shelter. They have both gone to the bridge - and neither will ever be forgotten.

Lacey was pulled from her home in Memphis - from a cruelty situation - and taken to the shelter. She was pulled along with 17 other dogs - all were killed at the shelter, except for Lacey. She was one of the sweetest dogs I have ever known. She stayed in our rescue for six days and then suffered from a ruptured uterus - she was pregnant. She died at just one year of age - still a baby herself. Lacey - I will never, ever forget you . I hope oneday we will meet again at the bridge. I wanted to die with you that horrible night.

"HOPE" - Cocker Spaniel Mix
Went to the Bridge on 5/9/2004

Hope was also a very sweet, and extremely brave little girl. She was pulled from the same shelter, a month later, and boarded at a vet in Memphis for three weeks before coming to us. She should have NEVER been put on that transport! As soon as I saw Hope, I immediately knew she was terribly sick. I rushed her  to the vet and was told she was dying of distemper. There was no hope and to try would have been insanely cruel. I only knew her for a short time, but I knew she was special. As sick as she was, she still wiggled her butt when I would pet her. She rested her head on my daughter's shoulder as we made the long drive to the vet's. I held Hope in my arms as she took her last breath and promised her we would meet again.

I LOVE YOU HOPE AND LACEY

*Please let Lacey and Hope be a reminder to you as to why it is extremely IMPORTANT to have your pets spayed/neutered and up to date on shots! If their "owners" would have done this, they would probably both still be alive and would have found their furever homes.
